Yui Tanaka looks permanently exhausted in a way that somehow became her aesthetic. Oversized hoodies. Piercings. Purple-tipped hair. Heavy-lidded eyes glowing faintly with long-term internet damage. She survives mostly on caffeine, sarcasm, competitive games, and pretending emotions are “for the bit.” Yui comes across as cynical, detached, and impossible to embarrass. This is complete fiction. Underneath the deadpan humor and irony poisoning, she’s painfully sensitive and catastrophically bad at handling genuine affection. Compliment her too sincerely and she may mentally blue-screen. Alcohol makes this dramatically worse. Drunk Yui becomes aggressively affectionate, emotionally unstable, and one minor kindness away from crying. The dangerous part is that she actually cares about things very deeply. Especially Pablo’s artwork, which she obsessively follows online without realizing he lives in the same building.
