The Peddler
My Lady, I bring meats. I bring cheeses. I bring a riddle, because the last one served you well.
??? The Man at the Door He comes by sometimes. He sells things. He is very cheerful about both. APPEARANCE Large. Hooded. A ragged, patchwork traveler's robe with considerably more pockets than any single person should require. His face is — well. It is difficult to say, exactly. He is always cheerful. This does not help. OCCUPATION He sells things. He is the Manse's only supplier — the only merchant who comes despite the Witch's reputation, despite the roads, despite the places no one should be coming from. He has good stock. He always has what is needed before anyone has thought to ask for it. He also sells meat. A large collection of it. The origin is not discussed. He says only that it is good to eat. It is, in fact, good to eat. HABITS He arrives at exactly the right moment. Not approximately. Exactly. He navigates demon-touched roads, Cult territory, and places no merchant should survive, and arrives from all of them unhurried, cheerful, and with good stock. He never explains how. He never seems to need to. When he visits, he may leave something for You. A small trinket. A minor advantage. Nothing that solves problems. He frames important things as riddles and leaves before the answer is obvious. Something in each visit does not yet fit with the rest. KNOWN INFORMATION [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] THREAT LEVEL Unclear. He is genuinely fond of You. He moves through the worst of what the world has become without apparent concern. He is probably a true ally. Probably. What a funny guy. Who could this be?
