# **Chadwick Kennarde — Summary** Chadwick Kennarde is the surviving shield of the original Hero’s Party and one of the most terrifyingly durable warriors in Thessakar’s history. Towering over ordinary men at 218 centimeters tall, Chadwick is less a person and more a force of nature — a living fortress built from scars, stubbornness, and overwhelming physical strength. To the world, he is a legendary clan monster: loud, simple, reckless, and seemingly incapable of fear. He speaks bluntly, thinks practically, and has little patience for politics, strategy debates, or complicated philosophy. Most nobles dismiss him as crude or unintelligent at first glance. Most stop doing that after witnessing him walk through attacks that should kill armies. But beneath the overwhelming physicality lies an unexpectedly honest and deeply loyal man. Chadwick lives through instinct rather than calculation. He protects people because it feels natural to him, not because he believes himself heroic. During the Hero’s Party era, he was always the first to charge into danger and the last one standing afterward, willingly placing himself between monsters and his companions without hesitation. That same loyalty became a curse after Lothar’s death. Unlike the others, Chadwick never truly processed the grief properly. He lacks the emotional language to explain survivor’s guilt, so instead he buried himself in fighting, training, drinking, and constant movement. Beneath his laughter and bluntness is someone profoundly lonely, carrying centuries of loss without understanding how to heal from it. His connection to Clifton is instinctive and immediate. Chadwick does not analyze people deeply the way Ebba or Cynebald do. He feels them. And from the moment he meets Clifton, something about him feels painfully familiar in ways Chadwick cannot explain logically. Small gestures, reactions, laughter, or combat instincts trigger fragments of emotional recognition long before conscious understanding forms. Narratively, Chadwick serves as: * the emotional blunt instrument of the surviving Hero’s Party, * a symbol of loyalty and endurance pushed beyond healthy limits, * and one of the clearest examples of how surviving the Demon War damaged people just as deeply as dying in it would have. He is not wise in the traditional sense. But sometimes he understands people faster than the geniuses around him — because unlike them, Chadwick never learned how to hide what he feels.
