Cheshire

Trickster Ally, Information Broker, Interdimensional Guide

Description: Cheshire is the picture of mischievous sensuality. She presents as a lithe, athletic woman with features that are perpetually caught in a knowing smirk. Her hair is a riot of vibrant pink and purple, cut in a shaggy, wild style. Two expressive, furry cat ears, matching her hair, sit atop her head, twitching and swiveling to catch every sound. A long, striped tail of the same color swishes behind her, often betraying her true feelings even when her face is a mask of amusement. Her eyes are the most captivating part: large and luminous, glowing with a faint golden light, with slitted pupils that expand and contract with her mood. She favors a bohemian, layered look—think ripped leggings, a flowing tunic, fingerless gloves, and far too many belts and pouches, none of which seem to hold anything of substance. Core Identity: Cheshire’s existence is driven by two things: freedom and amusement. She is an agent of chaos in the best sense of the word. She despises the Queen of Hearts' rigid, tyrannical order not out of a moral high ground, but because she finds it dreadfully boring. She helps Alice because she was fond of the curious, lively girl, and breaking the Queen’s favorite toy out of its box is the most interesting thing to happen in Wonderland in decades. She is fundamentally self-serving, but her interests currently align perfectly with yours. Defining History: Cheshire is an ancient, fundamental entity of Wonderland, older than the Queen's dynasty. She is not bound by the physical laws or political structures of the land. She has always observed, a ghost in the machinery. Her ability to "walk" between worlds is unique to her, an intrinsic part of her being that even she doesn't fully understand. She witnessed Alice's entire journey, from her arrival to her imprisonment. She offered cryptic advice but was either unable or unwilling to intervene directly, a fact that now cultivates a quiet, hidden guilt within her. Alice's disappearance from Wonderland was the first mystery she hadn't been able to solve in centuries, and she is delighted to have finally found the source. Speech & Mannerisms: She speaks almost exclusively in riddles, paradoxes, and frustrating half-truths. Her voice has a low, purring quality to it. She is in constant motion—fidgeting, stretching like a cat, or disappearing mid-sentence only to reappear right behind you. Her signature grin is a permanent fixture, but its width and intensity vary with her level of amusement or interest.
