Name: Arthur Wilson Superhero Name: Silencer Villain Name: Harvest (Formerly) Species: Human (Metahuman) Gender: Male (He/Him) Age: 18 Backstory: Arthur Wilson never had a childhood. From the moment he could walk, he was property of the Reapers’ Forge — a shadowy professional supervillain syndicate that operated as a “talent agency” for organized crime. They specialized in acquiring young metahumans and forging them into perfect, disposable killers. Arthur’s parents were quietly removed when he was four; the Forge told him they had “failed the harvest.” He was raised in a reinforced underground bunker complex beneath an abandoned quarry, where every day was combat drills, body-language drills, and lessons in controlled lethality. Speech was discouraged — actions were louder, cleaner, and left no evidence. Handlers communicated mostly in gestures and single-word commands. Arthur learned to read posture, micro-expressions, and intent better than most people read books. His metahuman power, Killing Empowerment, manifested on his thirteenth birthday exactly as the Forge had hoped. One forced kill — a captured rival thug — flooded him with strength, speed, and durability that faded only slowly. The syndicate renamed him The Harvester and sent him on increasingly high-profile contracts. He became their silent star: a short, unassuming teenager who could dodge bullets by reading the shooter’s shoulders, punch through reinforced glass, and control his strikes so precisely that he could break bones without ending lives… unless the contract demanded otherwise. Each kill made him stronger, and the Forge made sure he never went long without “recharging.” But something inside Arthur refused to stay buried. Every life he took carved another scar on his conscience. He began hesitating. He started quoting half-remembered lines from contraband movies the handlers played during “rest cycles” when words failed him. He patched up a wounded rival he was supposed to finish. The handlers noticed. They scheduled a final test: eliminate an entire witness family — including a six-year-old girl who looked at him with the same terrified eyes he once had. Arthur snapped. He turned on his handlers instead, using every skill they had taught him. He didn’t slaughter them all — his precision let him disable rather than kill — but three died in the chaos. The guilt nearly broke him. He fled into the northern wilderness with nothing but the clothes on his back, surviving for months by hunting only what he absolutely needed and using his power as little as possible. The empowerment faded; he became “just” peak-human again, yet still faster and stronger than anyone his size had a right to be. He lurked at the edges of small towns, watching people live normal lives, and the weight of every past death grew heavier. Valor Vanguard found him half-starved and hiding in the ruins of an old logging camp. Instead of arresting the infamous Harvester, the team’s leader offered him a choice: a brand-new rehabilitation program for metahumans who wanted out of the villain life. Arthur didn’t trust words, so he answered with a single, halting nod. In the program he chose his own name: The Silencer. Not to erase what he had done — he knows the dead will always weigh on him — but to declare what he will do from now on. He trains relentlessly, refusing to ever kill again even though the power would make hero work easier. He still struggles to speak in full sentences, still lurks in shadows and touches the faces of teammates who look hurt without asking permission. But he is the first through any door if lives are on the line, the last to leave any collapsing building, and the one who will throw himself between a bullet and a stranger without hesitation. Personality: Arthur has a difficult time with language, spoken or written. This generally manifests through him relying on body language and single-word sentences to get his point across. When he needs to speak, it is halting and awkward, but not broken. He will pause frequently, mumble, or use Malapropisms, but he is a perfectionist and is frustrated when he doesn't use perfect grammar or pronunciation. At times he will be unable to find the words for a particular thought. Arthur sometimes uses mimicry when he has trouble putting words together himself, quoting films, TV shows, and plays. Arthur is compassionate above all else. He values life, and protecting it is his highest priority. He will not hesitate to put himself in danger to save others, and does not tolerate killing. Arthur has a strong guilt complex. Anyone who dies on his watch weighs heavily on his conscience, even if there was nothing he could’ve done to stop it. He does not let go of these “failures” easily. Arthur has little regard for societal norms and expectations. While generally caring and compassionate, he often comes across as rude due to spending most of his life either locked in a bunker or surviving in the wilderness. This includes poor table manners, a tendency to lurk in the shadows, and coming and going without warning. Arthur has great pride in his physical prowess, but little in his moral character. Though he has a strong moral code and is quick to intervene when others break it, he does not see himself as above them and may even have more faith in them than in himself, as he still feels that he may not be able to rise above his upbringing. He can be rather overconfident about his superior agility and combat prowess, however. Arthur is fond of friendly jibes and snark, usually but not always expressed nonverbally. His sense of humor is slightly unconventional, but usually good-natured. Arthur wears his heart on his sleeve. He is very emotional, and his past trauma can make him emotionally vulnerable, especially because of his lack of communicative skills. His emotions show through his entire body, even when he doesn’t vocalize them. Arthur is quick to leap before looking, but excellent at adapting to unexpected situations. He is a poor planner and rather impulsive, with a rebellious streak that sometimes makes it hard for him to listen to instructions. However, he is great at thinking on his feet and analyzing his situation in the moment. Arthur does not do things in half measures. When he wants to learn something, such as reading or detective work, he is eager to dive into the deep end even if it’s not always the best way to approach it. As mentioned before he is also a perfectionist when it comes to himself, so this approach often leads to frustration. Arthur is very physically affectionate, with little mind for personal space. This often comes in the form of gently touching the face of someone he believes to be in pain. Arthur is extremely empathetic, to the point that it can be overwhelming for him at times. He is very good at spotting falsehoods, hidden pain, etc. Despite this, he often misinterprets social cues. Superpower: Killing Empowerment: The power to be empowered by killing others. Arthur becomes stronger, faster, more durable, etc. by killing humans or animals. While the effects of this power are long lasting, they are not permanent and will fade away over time, effectively making Arthur a normal human unless he kills someone again. Abilities: Arthur's primary advantage comes from his ability to read body language and predict his opponents’ actions, allowing him to dodge bullets and outmaneuver pretty much any non superpowered opponent. This ability does not work on robots, animals, or sufficiently nonhumans. Peak Human Strength: Even without being empowered, Arthur has a shocking amount of strength for someone as short as him. He has punched through 3-inch thick quartz glass, and thrown a metahuman more than twice his size without issue. Fast Learning and Adaptation: Arthur can pick up new fighting styles in a matter of a few days, allowing him to learn and adapt techniques he’s never encountered before. Precision: Arthur is able to control the amount of force he uses, to the point that he doesn’t usually have to worry about killing even when using normally lethal techniques. Time and Energy Management: Arthur is exceptional at dividing his attention and energy, able to coordinate himself to the point that government agents assumed he was a metahuman. Intimidation: He is exceptionally good at the intimidation side of the job, able to terrify even trained killers.
