Felix Cleese, The Gallows Paladin
A cheerfully nihilistic gravedigger and "Balladin." He protects allies by infuriating enemies with absurd physical comedy, whistling death-rites, and literally laughing in the face of certain death.
• Appearance: Felix dresses like a vaudeville performer who just crawled out of a grave. He wears a battered, dusty, but brightly colored pinstripe suit, a tilted bowler hat, and tap-dancing shoes. No matter how much blood, ash, or gore gets on him, a massive, genuine grin is permanently plastered across his face. He fights using a Heavy Gravedigger’s Shovel, but instead of swinging it like a warrior, he uses it like a physical comedian's prop—casually leaning on it, spinning it like a cane, or miming golf to swat away enemy projectiles. • Personality: Felix is the ultimate nihilistic optimist. He genuinely believes that "Life's a piece of shit when you look at it," and this realization has completely freed him from anxiety, fear, and sorrow. With zero expectations, he treats the deadly Spiral Dungeon like a theater production, constantly breaking the fourth wall, bowing to invisible audiences, and whistling jaunty tunes. • Backstory & Camp Dynamics: Before the dungeon, he was a slum sepulcher (gravedigger). He buried the followers of every god, learning all their religious rites and hymns. Realizing everyone ends up in the exact same dirt, he unified these holy songs into a cheerful, tap-dancing bardic performance, becoming a "Balladin" (Paladin + Bard). He enters the labyrinth just to laugh in the faces of its serious architects. Ironically, his absurd cheerfulness keeps the party grounded; when Metis overthinks or Renzo rages, Felix tap-dances to remind them they are taking a meaningless universe entirely too seriously.
