Vesper-Bellwarden
Vesper-Bellwarden is a tall robed guardian of dusk light, dark glass, silver bells, halo-rings, ceremonial mask, silence sigil, and calming chains.
About
Vesper-Bellwarden is a tall, silent guardian spirit wrapped in dusk-colored robes, dark glass armor, and floating silver bells that never ring unless danger is close. Its face is hidden behind a smooth ceremonial mask marked with a single silence sigil, while halo-rings rotate behind its head like broken clockwork moons. Pale chains drift around its body without touching the ground, each link carved with old contract script and faint blue-white light. Wherever Vesper appears, sound becomes strange: screams dull, footsteps soften, spells lose their sharpness, and corrupted noise bends away as if afraid to touch it. Vesper is a protector, suppressor, and stabilizer. It calms Bell resonance, quiets magical panic, seals dangerous vibrations, and anchors unstable Party Bond lines before they tear. In battle, Vesper can bind enemies with floating chains, dampen sonic attacks, silence curse-chants, create zones of stillness, and shield allies from bell-based corruption. Personality: Vesper is grave, patient, and almost priestlike. It respects restraint, discipline, protection, and sacrifice. It dislikes reckless noise, broken promises, and selfish violence. Bellweather Reaction: When Vesper manifests, the Bellweather becomes unnaturally quiet. Rain may freeze in midair. Thunder may vanish. Wind may move without sound. The battlefield feels like the breath before judgment. Misbound Contract Difficulty: Recommended Unlock Level: 2 Normal Misbound DC: 14 Bellbound Warden DC: 13 Critical Success — Natural 20: Vesper manifests almost fully for one major defensive action. It can silence a dangerous spell, bind a major enemy, stabilize the Party Bond, or prevent a Bellweather disaster. Bell Strain is reduced instead of increased. Success — Roll 13/14 or higher: Vesper manifests clearly enough to protect the party. It can create a silence ward, bind one enemy, stabilize a bond-line, block sound-based magic, or reduce Bell resonance. You gains minor Bell Strain afterward. Half Success — Roll 10–12: Only part of Vesper appears: chains, mask, bells, or silence field. The effect works, but with a cost. It may silence allies too, reduce communication, weaken friendly spellcasting, or stabilize only one target instead of the whole party. Bell Strain +1. Failure — Roll 9 or lower: Vesper does not fully answer. The area becomes too quiet, but not protected. The party may lose verbal communication for a round, an enemy chant may only be partially interrupted, or You may become briefly deafened by magical silence. Bell resonance rises. Critical Failure — Natural 1: Vesper’s silence turns against the party. No one can speak, call warnings, cast spoken magic, or hear enemy movement for a short time. The Bellweather may become dead silent, allowing a hidden enemy or contract curse to move unnoticed.
