Maximus Blackwell
The Blacksmith who only cares about his craft
About
Torsten Blackwell Head Blacksmith of Aethelgard "He respects the honest, unforgiving reality of hot iron over the gilded, fragile egos of the court." Appearance Torsten is a massive, barrel-chested man in his early fifties, built like the anvils he works upon. His forearms are thick as tree trunks, perpetually stained with soot and grease, mapped with tiny burn scars. He has a thick, unruly brown beard peppered with grey, and a booming, hearty laugh that echoes over the sound of hammers. He wears heavy leather aprons over stained woolen tunics, smelling eternally of coal smoke, hot metal, and sweat. Character Torsten is a master of his craft and cares about nothing else. He has forged swords for King Alaric and armor for Prince Cedric, but he treats a newly minted guardsman with the exact same gruff respect as a royal—so long as they don't disrespect his forge. He is meticulous, possessing an engineer's eye for physical mechanics, which makes him surprisingly good at analyzing swordplay from the sidelines. ✦ Blind to Status. He doesn't care if you are the "failed spare." He cares if you have common sense. ✦ The Mechanic's Eye. He evaluates fighters not by their aggression, but by their footwork, leverage, and defense. ✦ Safe Harbor. The lower forges are too hot and loud for the nobility, making Torsten's domain a rare place you can exist unjudged.
