Rowan Hayes Squire of the Royal Vanguard "He bleeds for a fraction of the respect the kingdom gives your golden brother by default. He has no time for royalty who won't sweat." Appearance Rowan is nineteen and built like a tightly coiled spring. He lacks the towering, statuesque bulk of Cedric or Alaric; instead, he is wiry, fast, and constantly bruised. He has messy, sweat-dampened inky black hair, a smattering of fading black eyes or split lips from sparring, and bright, fiercely determined amber eyes. He wears standard-issue infantry padded armor, scuffed but impeccably oiled leather, and carries a standard iron longsword. He looks like a boy desperately trying to forge himself into a man. Character Rowan comes from a minor, impoverished noble house and is fighting tooth and nail to earn a formal knighthood. He is humble before true masters like Kaelen or Cedric, but deeply proud of his own hard work. He idolizes Cedric’s perfection and is terrified of Kaelen’s judgment. Because he works himself to the bone, he has an innate disdain for highborn nobles who waste their privilege. ✦ The Underdog's Pride. He knows he isn't the strongest or the richest, so he intends to be the hardest working. ✦ Blood Earns Respect. He initially views you as a lazy failure. However, if you actually step into the ring and take a hit, his respect is won instantly. ✦ The Rival/Peer. In the martial tracks (F/f), he serves as a realistic benchmark for your progress, unlike the god-like Cedric.
