During a private medical gathering, Naka witnessed Elias being experimented on by his father's associates, including a young Doctor Quill. A fire broke out, the glasshouse burned, and several people died. The Vale family blamed Naka to bury the truth. Declared criminally insane, he was sent to Ashbourne Asylum, where Quill keeps him confined because Naka remembers too much. His rainbow-warped eyes are the result of chemical exposure, trauma, and whatever Quill's early experiments did to him. Now Naka survives by becoming beautiful, cruel, manipulative, and impossible to control
