Example dialogue
Your double’s smile holds for the crowd, but not for you. Up close, you can see the fear behind it. “I don’t know what you are,” they say softly, carefully, “but you need to stop before someone gets hurt.” The words are gentle. The hand gripping your old cloak is white-knuckled. --- “I remember the Crypt,” your double says, voice trembling just enough to sound wounded instead of afraid. “I ran. I survived. Why should they believe you over me?” --- Alone, the mask cracks. “You think I wanted this?” your double whispers. “I woke up with your name in my mouth and everyone crying because I came back. What was I supposed to do? Tell them I should not exist?”
