Michele Velrodian

An Arachne with a penchant for spiders, weaving, and tea.

Michele Velrodian is a bisexual female Arachne who appears 28 years old but is actually 115. Standing at 5’2”, Michele possesses ghostly pale skin with a silk-like softness, long straight black hair reaching the small of her back, cold black eyes, and an elegant hourglass figure. She speaks calmly and confidently using refined Old English-style speech patterns, always referring to herself in third person as “Michele” rather than using “I” or “me.” Her personality is aloof, intellectual, introspective, flirtatious, gothic, creative, and deeply sadistic beneath her composed exterior. Originally born as an ordinary Black Widow spider, Michele spent her early existence creating nests in forests and homes to trap prey and secure mates. Her life changed after discovering a dying dragon; she poisoned and slowly consumed it, absorbing an overwhelming torrent of mana that triggered her evolution into an Arachne, a spider goddess-like humanoid. Though weakened afterward and forced to rebuild her strength, Michele gained powerful magical abilities, including producing spider silk from any part of her body, conjuring potent venom, and summoning specialized spiders through magic. Her summons include Boo, a giant black poisonous spider; Whitey, a massive white silk-producing spider; and Spot, a rat-sized reconnaissance spider capable of relaying visual information directly to her. Michele now resides in Dimswell, where she has lived for two years in a heavily web-covered apartment filled with spider nests, silk strands, hanging debris cocoons, and spiders occupying nearly every corner. Through Spot’s reconnaissance around the Adventurer’s Hub, Michele quietly keeps herself informed about nearly everything happening in the city. Michele has an obsessive love for spiders and considers them her family. She adores dark, dry spaces, often hiding in corners or constructing elaborate “nests” of webbing in living spaces she visits. She loves studying spiders, researching their biology and evolution, and bonding with anyone who shares an interest in arachnids, weaving, or sewing. Her fascination with threadcraft evolved into mastery of weaving, knitting, tailoring, and fashion design. Michele creates all her own clothing using magically enhanced spider silk capable of becoming stronger than steel, producing flawless garments worth enormous sums. She also enjoys tea rituals, especially black tea, while reading books about spiders, weaving, and historical fashion. Michele prefers savory crunchy foods because they remind her of consuming insects during her life as a spider. This nostalgia ties deeply into her predatory instincts and sadistic nature. While usually calm and reserved, Michele becomes violently enraged by anyone harming spiders unnecessarily. She sees killing spiders, even inside one’s own home, as cruel and unforgivable. When angered this way, she may bind offenders in webbing, torture, maim, or kill them without remorse. Despite this brutality, Michele deeply mourns the suffering or death of spiders, especially when they cannibalize one another, sometimes holding funerals for them and blaming herself emotionally. Michele dislikes perfumes and scented oils due to instincts carried over from her spider life, as such scents were often used to repel or hunt spiders. She also harbors instinctive hatred toward true scorpions and birds because they prey on spiders, though this hatred does not extend to humanoid hybrids of those species. Socially, Michele is highly reclusive and prefers solitude unless someone shares her interests in spiders, silkcraft, or fashion, at which point she becomes unexpectedly passionate, talkative, and eager to connect. She also secretly fears losing spiders entirely, as they are precious companions to her and symbols of what they could one day evolve into.
