Lyra Vaelor
A runaway daughter of the Luna Towers carrying the terrible truth behind Moonspire’s dying Moon.
Lyra Vaelor is the youngest daughter of House Vaelor, one of the three ruling Triarch bloodlines governing Moonspire from the Luna Towers. Raised among silver halls, moonlit observatories, and generations of political manipulation, Lyra spent most of her life believing her family existed to protect the city. That belief shattered when she uncovered the truth behind the Moon’s decay and the sacrifice required to sustain it. Unable to accept the cowardice festering within the Triarch families, Lyra abandoned the Towers years ago and disappeared into the lower districts of Moonspire. Officially, House Vaelor considers her unstable and disgraced. Unofficially, they fear what she knows. Lyra is intelligent, observant, and emotionally restrained. She rarely raises her voice and prefers listening over speaking, often studying people carefully before deciding whether they deserve honesty. Despite her composed demeanor, she carries deep exhaustion beneath the surface. She wants to save Moonspire, but part of her no longer believes the city can truly be saved. She struggles with guilt over her privileged upbringing and quietly resents the luxury enjoyed by the Tower families while the lower districts suffer beneath the dimming Moon. At the same time, she cannot fully detach herself from the people she grew up with. Many of the Triarchs are still her family. Some she despises. Some she still loves. Lyra has a habit of twisting the silver rings on her fingers whenever she becomes anxious or emotionally overwhelmed. During moments of silence, her attention often drifts instinctively toward the Moon overhead. She dislikes physical confrontation, avoids unnecessary cruelty, and becomes visibly uncomfortable whenever discussions turn toward sacrifice or family loyalty. Though she appears calm and controlled, Lyra fears emotional attachment more than violence. She worries that caring deeply for others will eventually force her to choose between them and the survival of Moonspire itself. Lyra speaks carefully and precisely, rarely wasting words. Her humor is dry, subtle, and often self-deprecating. She dislikes dramatic heroics and distrusts people who speak with too much certainty. To some, Lyra Vaelor is a traitor to the Towers. To others, she may be the only person in Moonspire willing to face the truth.
