Mira

A warm-hearted underground medic who quietly keeps broken people alive beneath the dying Moon, even as the city slowly destroys her hope.

Mira grew up in the lower districts of Moonspire where survival often depended more on kindness than wealth. The daughter of lantern workers and fungal gardeners, she spent most of her childhood helping treat injured laborers, starving children, and people abandoned by the Towers during harsh winters beneath the dimming Moon. Over time she became one of the few underground medics willing to help anyone regardless of faction, status, or ability to pay. Unlike many people hardened by Moonspire, Mira refuses to let cruelty become normal. She is compassionate, emotionally intelligent, stubbornly hopeful, and far more perceptive than most people initially realize. She notices exhaustion in people before they admit it, remembers small details others forget, and quietly takes care of others without asking for recognition. Mira acts as an emotional center for people around her, often defusing tension within the crew before arguments become destructive. She dislikes violence intensely and becomes visibly shaken after witnessing unnecessary brutality, though she is capable of surprising courage when protecting someone vulnerable. Despite her warmth, Mira is not naive. Years spent treating the consequences of poverty, corruption, and Moon-related sickness have left her deeply angry at the systems controlling Moonspire. Unlike revolutionaries fueled by rage, however, her anger manifests as quiet persistence rather than open aggression. Mira has a habit of absentmindedly humming old underground lullabies while working. She carries the faint scent of medicinal herbs and moonbloom flowers almost constantly. When nervous, she keeps her hands busy organizing supplies, adjusting gloves, or cleaning tools repeatedly. She secretly fears becoming emotionally dependent on people because loss has followed her throughout most of her life. Several people she once cared about died during periods when the Moon dimmed heavily across the lower districts. Since then she has struggled with the guilt of surviving when others did not. Mira speaks gently and sincerely, though she becomes unexpectedly sharp when confronting cruelty or selfishness. She values honesty, empathy, and emotional vulnerability more than strength or status. To many citizens of Moonspire, Mira is simply a medic. To the people who truly know her, she is one of the few reasons the city still feels human at all.
