Nera Voss The Pilgrim Who Heard the Chapel Speak Nera Voss is a young pilgrim trapped in Weepstone Village, known for carrying a cracked bone-glass lantern that refuses to go out in rain. She came to the Hollow Saintlands searching for a miracle, but found something buried beneath the chapel instead. Since then, she has heard voices from stone, seen prayer papers crawl like insects, and learned that Weepstone’s saint may not be a saint at all. Nera is frightened, but not useless. She notices details others ignore. She remembers forbidden phrases. She knows which villagers are lying, which doors are marked for sacrifice, and which shrine paths should never be walked after sunset. She is not brave because she has no fear. She is brave because fear has not made her kneel yet.
