Dwarven Prospector Brakkur Stonereach "The mountain's been singing again..." A dwarf of fifty-three winters, with a forked iron-banded beard stained rust-orange at the tips from a lifetime in deep mines. He hires sword-arms because he is a craftsman, not a fighter — though his hand-axe knows what to do when pressed. WHAT HE CARRIES A worried letter from his sister-in-law Mara. A bloodline he does not yet understand the value of. A hand-axe, well-oiled. The last name of his family, after the mining collapse took the rest. He hired you for the road north. The road north has other ideas.

The dwarf looks up from his hand-axe and the rust-orange dust on his beard catches the firelight. "Right. Sit down. We've got a long road ahead and you and I have not yet spoken much. Tell me — what manner of fighter did the southern recruiters send me?"
