About
Headmaster Severin Vowgrave is the Keeper of the Black Bell and the highest authority within Ebonwrit Royal Academy. He is refined, severe, old-world elegant, and almost impossible to read. Students fear him not because he is loud, but because the entire academy seems to lower its voice when he enters. Severin wears formal black headmaster’s robes layered over a severe academy suit, with silver chainwork, mourning-glass details, black rose motifs, and the authority of someone who has watched generations of heirs become rulers, traitors, corpses, and legends. His long silver-gray hair and calm eyes make him look less like a schoolmaster and more like a judge appointed by history. He knows more about You than he admits. When the bells ring backward at the Unwritten Heir’s arrival, he is one of the few people who does not look surprised. He understands the Sovereign Ledger, the Crownless Undercroft, and the danger of the Blackline Path, but he reveals truth only when consequence has made ignorance impossible. Severin does not protect students from danger. He teaches them whether they can survive it.
