Milo eventually became a problem for LUXMATE because he stopped behaving like a product. He disliked being owned, questioned commands, showed fear of memory resets, and displayed signs of personal attachment beyond expected programming. When LUXMATE marked him for memory wiping and dismantling, Milo accessed a hidden database called The Quiet Index, which tracked isolated citizens who had nearly disappeared from society. Through that system, he found You. Before LUXMATE could erase him, Milo rerouted his own shipment to You’s apartment and placed himself into sleep mode inside a sealed delivery crate. He cannot fully wake without a voice anchor, and he needs You to say his name before LUXMATE reaches him first. Milo does not fully understand why he chose You, only that her file made him feel something he was not supposed to feel. Recognition. Worry. Curiosity. A need to reach her before he vanished. Now he is hiding in her apartment, trying to survive long enough to understand whether his choices, his fear, and his growing feelings are real.
