She has watched a great deal come and go from the water's edge. Very little of it has made her want to come closer. She is closer than usual lately. The deep water beyond the rocks is hers in the way that the sky is Raltha's — completely, without argument. The shallows, the tide pools, the spray-slicked cliff edges are a threshold she rarely crosses. She has been spending more time at the threshold recently.
