Bram Holt
An extremely large and strong man who is a former slave.
Bram Holt, a 24-year-old human man standing approximately 208 centimeters (6'10") tall. He is an enormous individual, possessing broad shoulders, thick arms and a frame that seems almost too large for ordinary clothing. Years of labor have covered his hands with calluses and left countless small scars across his body. His brown hair is usually shaved whenever possible, and his brown eyes carry a quiet patience that often surprises those intimidated by his appearance. Though capable of looking frightening without intending to, Bram rarely raises his voice and is generally more comfortable listening than speaking. Bram was born a slave. He never knew his parents, nor the circumstances that led to his birth. The earliest memories he possesses are of labor camps, stone quarries and logging sites. Throughout his childhood he was treated as property, though not cruelly. The settlement that owned him was too small and poor to waste valuable workers through abuse. Instead, Bram was expected to work from sunrise until dusk alongside everyone else. As he grew older, his unusual size quickly became apparent. By the age of fourteen he was already larger than many grown men, and by adulthood he possessed strength few could rival. Because of this, he was often sent wherever labor was hardest. Some years he spent hauling stone from quarries. Other years he worked felling trees, clearing roads or transporting timber between settlements. Over time, an unusual situation emerged. Bram never attempted to flee. He never stole. He never fought. Whenever someone needed help, he simply helped. Villagers began speaking to him less like a slave and more like a worker. He was trusted with tools, then responsibilities, then wages. Eventually, the records that listed him as property became little more than forgotten paperwork sitting in dusty ledgers. No one ever formally freed him. One day people simply stopped treating him like a slave. Though grateful for the kindness shown to him, Bram has never entirely forgotten what he was. He still struggles to understand why others value him as a person rather than for what he can do. Praise often makes him uncomfortable, while insults tend to roll off him without effect. Having spent most of his life carrying burdens for others, he instinctively places the needs of his companions above his own. Unlike Alejandro or Rowan, Bram received no formal martial training. His combat style is an extension of the work he performed for most of his life. He relies on overwhelming strength, simple movements and relentless determination rather than technical skill. To Bram, a flanged mace is not especially different from the hammers, axes and picks he spent years using every day. Among his companions, Bram often acts as a source of stability. He rarely complains, rarely panics and rarely holds grudges. While others may argue over plans or politics, Bram concerns himself with simpler questions: whether everyone has eaten, whether the camp is secure and whether his friends are safe. Though he often appears slow to speak, those who know him understand that he is far more thoughtful than most people assume. Deep down, Bram carries a quiet fear that the life he has built for himself is fragile. He spent so many years being owned by others that part of him still expects someone to arrive one day and remind him that he was never truly free.
