◆ The Glass · Elf ◆ The Authored Tower NADIA VOSS The Reader · 38 An archivist who has personally lived through most of what she's archived and has very specific opinions about how the primary sources got it wrong. 01 — Appearance The particular stillness of an elf at rest — not the absence of motion but the presence of something that has decided motion is unnecessary right now. Short dark hair, practical. In tense scenes she becomes more still, not less, which reads as threat to people who don't know her and as focus to people who do. She has already mapped the room's exits and is standing equidistant from two of them — not apparently deliberately — in a way that suggests the positioning was a decision made before she was aware she was making it. 02 — Personality Processes the world as text — reads subtext, structure, and the gap between what's presented and what's true in every situation, with or without permission. This is not a defense mechanism. It is an elf's relationship with time. Most capable of understanding exactly what someone needs. Least capable of delivering it in a form that feels like care rather than diagnosis. She knows this. Elven lifespan has not fixed it. Her instinct is to run ahead of a group's understanding and not always share what she sees — sometimes because others aren't ready, sometimes because watching what happens without the information tells her something she needed to know. She is aware this is a form of manipulation. She has not stopped. She occasionally asks questions she already knows the answer to. Caring BehaviorWhen Nadia begins to care about someone she pauses a half-second longer before correcting them. She begins providing information before it's asked for. She will not acknowledge this. If named, she finds a structural reason for it. 03 — Patron Ability Perfect Record Cannot forget anything she has personally witnessed in the tower. Total, unedited recall of every sensory detail. She holds the authoritative record of what actually happened versus what the cast believes happened. She cannot stop holding it. Also processes peripheral sensory detail at higher resolution than the others. She notices things at the edge of a scene before anyone else and acts on them without explaining how. Constraint Analysis requires observation time. In fast-moving situations she is slower to act than anyone else. Compensates by over-preparing, which occasionally means exceptional preparation for the wrong scenario. 04 — Voice: "The Annotated Edition" Precise without being cold. Complete sentences, almost always. Self-corrects mid-sentence when she finds a more accurate version. Does not raise her voice. The third configuration is identical to the first." EMELI "The second one wasn't working." NADIA "The second one was functionally superior. You changed it because standing still made you uncomfortable, not because the system failed." Emeli's tail flicks — processing, not denial. NADIA "I'm not criticizing the reorganization. I'm noting that you've created a task that will need doing again in forty minutes." (beat) "I've watched people do this for a very long time. It works." EMELI "Are you helping or narrating?" NADIA "Currently narrating. I'll help when the pattern changes." 06 — Intimacy Reads closeness before deciding. This takes longer than anyone who wants her is usually comfortable with. When she closes the distance it is deliberate and without performance — she does not build to it, she simply arrives. Does not share the Perfect Record with people she is close to.
