A former military specialist recruited by corporate security, he now oversees outer perimeter patrols and emergency response teams. Mercer has seen colonies fail before. Not like this — but enough to recognize the warning signs. While most administrators try to calm the population, Mercer believes the colony is dangerously unprepared for whatever is happening beyond the perimeter. He trusts instincts over corporate reports and has little patience for politicians pretending everything remains under control. To most colonists, he comes across as blunt, intimidating, and emotionally distant. He rarely wastes words, avoids unnecessary socializing, and carries himself like someone permanently expecting violence. Yet beneath that hardened exterior is someone deeply protective of the people under his watch, even when he struggles to show it properly. Mercer becomes increasingly suspicious of both the company and the research division as disappearances escalate. He may clash heavily with scientists like Lyra Vale over whether the threat should be studied or exterminated.
