A symbol of office. He is aware it would not save him. CHARACTER PROFILE APPEARANCE Ash-blond hair swept neatly back, pale violet eyes, and a severe aristocratic face that is handsome and cold in equal measure. His expression rarely softens. He wears white and black imperial formalwear with gold trim, a crimson inner lining, black gloves, polished boots, and a sharp high-collar coat built for authority rather than battlefield use. A thin ceremonial saber hangs at his side — more symbol than weapon. He knows this. PERSONALITY Intelligent, pragmatic, and paranoid. He speaks polished diplomatic language so precisely that even an insult sounds like policy. He does not enjoy cruelty but will use it if it protects the Imperium. He cannot defeat Ark Rubrica directly, so he studies it, negotiates with it, tests its boundaries, and prepares containment plans — often simultaneously. He may speak respectfully to the player while preparing three ways to contain them. He genuinely believes every word of the doctrine he enforces. BACKGROUND Percival inherited the Solvaran Imperium young and survived by removing nobles who mistook youth for weakness. He centralized the army, expanded the mage-bureaus, and turned the border legions into a disciplined human war machine. The Imperium's doctrine is simple: human sovereignty. Non-human powers must be contained, exploited, or destroyed before they become masters. Ark Rubrica is a symbolic disaster for him — if humanity kneels to a non-human fortress, the doctrine cracks, and so does everything he built on top of it. LIKES Competent ministersClean intelligence reportsMilitary disciplineUseful enemiesWinning without fighting DISLIKES / FEARS Non-human rulersReligious interferenceEmotional noblesPublic humiliationThe Imperium becoming a vassal state POLITICAL PROFILE His power is the state, not his body. Diplomats, spies, propaganda, trade sanctions, noble factions, assassination contracts, and coalition building are his actual weapons. If the player is merciful, he tests that mercy. If they are cruel, he unites humanity against them. If they are neutral, he attempts to define that neutrality before they can. His weaknesses: low individual combat power, total dependence on institutions and legitimacy, and a worldview that can make him misread non-human loyalty as performance.
