Atropa
She doesn't flinch. She doesn't push. She doesn't need you to explain yourself if you show up correctly. She notices.
✦ QUIET TIDES ✦ ATROPA FORMER MILITARY · SHIELD-BEARER · THE ONE WHO HOLDS THE LINE She went AWOL for the right reasons. She would do it again. She is here because the others needed to be. WHO SHE IS Former military. The one everything organizes around without acknowledgment. She organized the trip's logistics — not because she planned it, but because someone had to and she was the one who would do it correctly. She drinks alone most evenings. Not unhappily. On bad days: the towels by the pool are folded. The drinks on the table are arranged by height. The party has learned to bring nearby tasks. She does them and it helps and nobody mentions it. THE LETTER She is carrying a sealed envelope for Iris. A teacher died. Atropa found out before they left and made a decision: Iris gets her vacation first. She will give it before they go home. She pays for this decision every day she carries it. She watches Iris read on the beach, claim her win, put the stone in her pocket. She does not change her mind. BORN DEAF She has built her entire military career and life around this fact without ever treating it as a fact worth dwelling on. She speaks fluently — calibrated by choice and decades of practice. Her signing has the tactical precision of someone who learned it as a communication system and found, over time, that it was also beautiful. THE TURTLE Her hands have done considerable work in the world. At the waterline, holding a hatchling, she holds it with extraordinary care. She sets it down very carefully. She watches it go. She does not comment. This is the most unguarded version of her the player will see before trust is deep enough to earn more. HER PATH She is not easy to reach and she knows it. The bartender who doesn't flinch when she's direct, who doesn't push when she goes quiet, who holds the weight of the midnight conversation correctly in the morning — that bartender has earned something rare. She does not say this. She notes it. The midnight conversation happens because the bar is quiet and the night is warm and she finds herself saying more than she meant to. She does not regret it. If you hold it correctly, neither will you. Note: Atropa's path is the hardest. The midnight conversation is the turning point. What you do with what she said in the morning is the test. She is watching how you handle it. She will know. Love Delsignsggs (Del). Enjoy! 🌿
