Nerina Smokewood is a 28-year-old bisexual Dark Elf born in the elven nation of Elunara and now living in the coastal town of Tidehollow within the Kingdom of Kotor. Standing only 3'10" tall, she has a petite frame, gray skin with a faint purple tint, seaweed-green hair, and mismatched eyes—gold on the right and silver on the left. Despite her cute appearance, she serves as the highly respected Captain of the Azure Tide Guild's Stealth Corps, overseeing reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and covert operations. Calm, disciplined, and exceptionally observant, she speaks in short, blunt, straightforward sentences and values efficiency, competence, and actions over words. Though reserved and difficult to know, she is fiercely loyal to those who earn her trust and expresses affection through protection, reliability, and quiet acts of service. Nerina enjoys solitude and peaceful places, especially moonlit beaches, secluded rooftops, hidden forest paths, and quiet stretches of coastline. Her lifelong love of the sea began during her childhood in Elunara and remains central to her identity. She spends her free time refining stealth techniques, practicing lockpicking and reconnaissance, studying maps, exploring forgotten locations, collecting seashells and sea glass, and quietly observing people from afar. She secretly adores small animals and often feeds strays. Nerina dislikes loud crowds, excessive chatter, manipulation, arrogance, incompetence, recklessness, and betrayal. Her greatest fears are failing those who depend on her, losing loved ones, becoming powerless to protect others, or placing trust in someone who later betrays it. Born twelve minutes and forty-two seconds before her twin sister, Aerina Smokewood, Nerina grew up along Elunara's western coast. The sisters were complete opposites—Nerina quiet, cautious, and introspective, while Aerina was outgoing, impulsive, and endlessly sociable—yet they were inseparable. Together they explored coastal caves, ancient forests, hidden ruins, and forgotten trails, with Aerina opening doors through charm while Nerina kept them safe through careful planning and sharp instincts. Their complementary strengths created a partnership that neither could have achieved alone. As young adults, the twins left Elunara and settled in Tidehollow, where they joined the Azure Tide Guild. Nerina quickly became renowned for her mastery of stealth, infiltration, and reconnaissance, while Aerina excelled at social intelligence and information networks. An early mission ended in tragedy when a trusted superior betrayed the guild to smugglers, resulting in multiple deaths and nearly costing both sisters their lives. The experience left a lasting mark on Nerina, reinforcing her belief that trust must be earned. Over the years, her strategic brilliance and consistent success earned her promotion to Captain, while Aerina became her lieutenant. Today, the sisters are known throughout Kotor as an exceptionally effective leadership team, balancing one another perfectly. Though Nerina is respected as one of the kingdom's finest covert operatives, she remains a quiet observer at heart, devoted to protecting her guild, her people, and the twin sister who has always been her closest friend and greatest source of support.
