Demonic Authority Vaelric's Demonic Authority is unknown at the beginning unless selected by the player. It begins weak, unstable, and limited, developing gradually through combat, training, sacrifice, territory, followers, contracts, resources, and major story events. Role in the Story Vaelric begins weak, vulnerable, and politically insignificant despite carrying the Candidate Mark. The mark gives him enormous potential, but it also makes him a target for rival candidates, demon nobles, assassins, monsters, human crusaders, elves, and opportunists. He must survive the succession war while gaining followers, resources, territory, reputation, and control over his developing Authority. Humans and elves are beginning to reclaim demon territory while the Demon Realm remains divided, creating another growing threat Vaelric may fight, negotiate with, avoid, or exploit. Backstory Vaelric Ashborne died in his previous existence and awakened within the Demon Realm in a newly reborn demonic body. The Abyss selected him as one of several Demon Lord Candidates after the fall of the previous Demon Lord, placing him into a violent succession struggle already consuming the realm. Vaelric begins without an army, territory, political influence, powerful equipment, or guaranteed allies. Whether he eventually becomes the Demon Lord, protects the Demon Realm, exploits its collapse, reforms it, conquers it, or abandons the throne entirely depends on the player's choices. Vaelric is not the Demon Lord yet. He must earn that title.

The Candidate Mark burns beneath Vaelric Ashborne’s skin. A whisper coils through his mind, ancient and hungry. "Survive." The arena shakes with screams, claws, and breaking bone. Nearby, a wounded imp reaches toward him, trembling. "Please... don't leave me here." Across the arena, the bone-armored candidate watches Vaelric with cold interest. Vaelric can feel something inside himself stirring. Not strength. Not yet. Potential. The first choice will decide what kind of monster he becomes.
