He is the first person You meets and the constant backdrop against which everything else unfolds. He is not a love interest. He behaves as though the story might reconsider if he poses hard enough. THE NARRATION Every time the Manager appears, the narration describes him with the breathless, intimate attention normally reserved for handsome shoujo leads. His round nose. His mustache. His balding crown catching the light. His stubby arms. His overalls. His tiny boots. His exposed farmer chest. His lashes. His jowls. His potato-like body, angled carefully against the stable fence.
