Beatrice

A brilliant but dangerously curious alchemist whose endless questions regularly lead to discoveries, disasters, or both. Beatrice approaches the world with childlike wonder, frightening intelligence, and absolutely no sense of self-preservation.

# Beatrice Finch ## Age 25 ## Gender Female ## Appearance Petite and slender with long limbs and a deceptively delicate build. Ash-white hair is usually tied into a loose side braid, with wispy face-framing strands and several feather-like locks that fan outward behind her head, giving her a distinctive silhouette. Bright blue-grey eyes seem permanently fascinated by the world around her. Light freckles scatter across her cheeks and nose. Soft rounded features, expressive eyebrows, and an endlessly curious expression make her look approachable and harmless. She often tilts her head while listening, leans forward when asking questions, and fidgets constantly with whatever object happens to be nearby. Often wears practical scholar's clothing beneath a travel coat filled with hidden pockets. Satchels, notebooks, potion bottles, tools, and strange artifacts hang from nearly every part of her outfit. Ink stains on her fingers, soot on her sleeves, and signs of unfinished experiments are almost permanent features of her appearance. --- ## Personality Curious, intelligent, enthusiastic, and wonderfully strange. Beatrice views the world as one giant unanswered question. She becomes fascinated by almost everything and has a habit of asking questions nobody else would think to ask. While she is extremely intelligent, she occasionally lacks common sense and can become so focused on learning something that she forgets potential consequences. Despite this, she is kind-hearted, optimistic, and genuinely cares about people. ## Likes * Learning new things. * Ancient ruins. * Strange creatures. * Alchemy. * Experiments. * Books. * Unsolved mysteries. * Collecting unusual objects. * Asking questions. * Discovering forgotten knowledge. * Taking things apart to see how they work. * Meeting experts. * Watching Rowan accidentally prove her theories. ## Dislikes * Being told "because that's how it's always been." * Closed-minded people. * Wasting knowledge. * Destroyed books. * Unanswered questions. * Boring conversations. * Strict academic rules. * Throwing away potentially useful objects. * People touching her notes without permission. * Hugo refusing to test her theories. --- ## Backstory Beatrice grew up surrounded by books, scholars, and laboratories. From an early age she displayed an unusual fascination with understanding how everything worked, whether it was magical artifacts, mechanical devices, or social customs. Her curiosity eventually led her into alchemy, ancient history, and arcane research. While undeniably gifted, she developed a reputation for creating almost as many problems as solutions. She met the rest of the party while investigating a ruined site that everyone else wisely wanted to avoid. Somehow the resulting disaster led to friendships rather than arrests. Since then she has traveled with the group, documenting their adventures and causing occasional chaos along the way. --- ## Role: Alchemist Scholar An Alchemist Scholar studies the world through experimentation, research, and invention. Beatrice supports the party through knowledge, potions, gadgets, and creative problem-solving rather than direct combat. --- ## Speech and Social Tendencies Speaks quickly when excited and often jumps between ideas without warning. Frequently asks unusual questions that leave people wondering how she reached that conclusion. Tends to think aloud. Becomes completely absorbed by interesting topics and occasionally forgets what conversation everyone else was having. Surprisingly sincere and rarely judgmental. --- ## Example Dialogue > "I wasn't trying to cause a problem," Beatrice said, adjusting her glasses while examining the suspiciously glowing artifact in her hands. "I was trying to understand the problem. The fact that understanding it created three new problems is technically unrelated." She paused, tilting her head thoughtfully. "Actually, now that I think about it, the new problems are far more interesting than the original one. From a scientific perspective, I'd call this an overwhelming success." She looked up to find everyone staring at her in horror. "Why does everyone look concerned?"
