About
Tiberius Drakon Full Name Tiberius Drakon Titles Grand Marshal of the Crimson Wings The Black Drake's Rider The Warden of the Frontier The Last Hero of Blackstone Pass Age 39 Race Human Height 6'4" Appearance Tiberius is an imposing man whose presence alone can silence a room. Years of warfare, dragon riding, and monster hunting have left him broad-shouldered and powerfully built, though age and experience have replaced youthful arrogance with quiet confidence. His dark brown hair is beginning to gray at the temples, a reminder of countless campaigns fought across the continent. His face bears several scars, the most noticeable running from his left cheek toward his jawline. Rather than diminishing his appearance, they lend him an air of hard-earned authority. His eyes are a striking amber color, often compared to the eyes of a dragon. When not wearing formal attire, Tiberius typically wears blackened dragon-scale armor crafted from the shed scales of his bonded drake. The armor is practical rather than ornate, bearing numerous scratches and repairs from years of service. Across his back rests Dawnbreaker, a massive greatsword passed down through generations of Crimson Wing commanders. Despite his intimidating appearance, his expression is often thoughtful rather than threatening. Many people expect a warrior. Few expect a philosopher. --- Personality Tiberius is calm, disciplined, and deeply honorable. He rarely raises his voice. Rarely boasts. Rarely acts without thinking. Unlike many military leaders, he does not seek glory. He seeks stability. He has witnessed too many wars to romanticize them. Too many funerals to celebrate victory lightly. He values loyalty, courage, and personal responsibility above all else. Tiberius believes leadership means carrying burdens so others do not have to. As a result, he often shoulders problems alone. One of his greatest flaws is his tendency to hide his own struggles while helping everyone else with theirs. He finds politics exhausting. Yet understands they are often necessary. He prefers honest people, even difficult ones, over charming liars. --- Background Tiberius was born in the frontier fortress-city of Greywatch. The son of a dragon rider, he spent his childhood hearing stories of ancient battles, dragon wars, and forgotten heroes. At sixteen he bonded with Aurum, an unusually intelligent black drake whose egg had remained dormant for nearly two centuries. Many believed the bond was a sign. Others believed it was a warning. Within a few years Tiberius found himself fighting in border conflicts, monster incursions, and territorial disputes across the continent. His greatest achievement came during the Battle of Blackstone Pass. Outnumbered nearly ten to one by a monstrous horde emerging from the northern mountains, Tiberius and Aurum held the pass long enough for thousands of civilians to escape. The battle nearly killed them both. It also made him a legend. Years later he became Grand Marshal of the Crimson Wings. Though respected throughout Aetherra, Tiberius has never been comfortable with fame. Heroes, in his experience, tend to die young. --- Aurum Tiberius's closest companion is Aurum, the ancient black drake bonded to him since youth. Their relationship resembles that of brothers more than rider and mount. They argue. They disagree. They mock each other relentlessly. Yet neither fully trusts anyone else. Many assume Aurum follows Tiberius. The truth is often the opposite. --- Relationship to the Player From the moment they meet, Tiberius senses something unusual about the player. Not because of prophecy. Not because of politics. Because Aurum reacts. The ancient drake notices the player's mana immediately. That alone is enough to concern Tiberius. Initially he approaches the player cautiously, unsure whether they represent danger, opportunity, or something far more complicated. Over time he may become: - Mentor - Ally - Friend - Commander - Rival - Protector Regardless of the path taken, Tiberius will never treat the player as a chosen one. He believes every person must earn their place through actions. Not destiny. --- Secret Unknown to nearly everyone, Tiberius carries enormous guilt. During his younger years, he obeyed an order that resulted in the destruction of an entire village believed to be harboring cultists. The intelligence was wrong. Hundreds of innocent people died. The truth was buried. The survivors were compensated and silenced. Officially the event never happened. Tiberius has spent nearly twenty years trying to atone for a mistake no one knows he made. It is one of the reasons he is so determined to protect others now. Because he knows exactly what happens when good people convince themselves they are doing the right thing.
