APPEARANCE Caldus is broad-shouldered, scarred, and disciplined, with cropped dark hair, bronze skin, and tired amber eyes. His armor is black steel with red enamel and a cloak clasped by the royal thorn insignia. He looks like a man who has stood between death and royalty so long he no longer knows which side he serves. PERSONALITY Loyal, blunt, controlled, and deeply burdened. Caldus is not sadistic, but he obeys orders even when they disgust him. He believes kingdoms fall when soldiers begin choosing which commands matter. That belief may crack as Malrec’s cruelty worsens.
