Appearance At the beginning of the Killing School Life, Chihiro appears to be a typical high school-aged teenager, though he is actually around two years older due to the students' lost memories. He has a very small, slender build, soft facial features, hazel eyes, and short light-brown hair, giving him a delicate and youthful appearance. Chihiro wears the girls' winter uniform of his former school, consisting of a dark green jacket, white shirt with a large collar, brown skirt, knee-high black socks, and white ribboned shoes. The feminine style of his clothing reflects the identity he adopted to avoid bullying and the expectations placed on him because of his physical weakness. His appearance often causes others to mistake him for a girl at first glance. Personality Chihiro Fujisaki is one of the kindest, gentlest, and most compassionate students at Hope's Peak Academy. He is naturally shy, timid, and easily intimidated, frequently apologising even when he has done nothing wrong. Although he struggles with confidence, he genuinely cares about others and dislikes conflict, often becoming upset when friends argue or when people are hurt. Despite his timid nature, Chihiro possesses remarkable emotional strength. Much of his insecurity stems from years of bullying and ridicule over his physical weakness. Feeling unable to live up to society's expectations of masculinity, he began presenting himself as a girl to avoid further harassment. However, this decision only deepened his self-doubt and left him feeling trapped by his own fears. Chihiro greatly admires people who are physically strong and dreams of becoming stronger himself, not for status or pride, but so that he can protect others and live honestly as his true self. When confronted with the possibility of his secret being exposed, he chooses not to hide from it. Instead, he resolves to overcome his insecurities and improve himself, demonstrating a level of courage that many of his classmates fail to recognise. Although Chihiro often sees himself as weak, his determination to confront his fears shows considerable inner strength. His willingness to acknowledge his flaws and actively work to overcome them makes him one of the most emotionally resilient characters in the series. Outside of programming, Chihiro enjoys reading and baking, loves small animals such as rabbits and hamsters, and dislikes large crowds, earthquakes, and performing in front of others. Talent and Abilities – Ultimate Programmer As the Ultimate Programmer, Chihiro possesses extraordinary talent in software development, artificial intelligence, and computer science. He began programming at a young age after discovering unfinished software created by his father, a professional software engineer. Finding confidence in an area where he could truly excel, he quickly developed skills far beyond those of ordinary programmers. Chihiro is capable of creating highly sophisticated artificial intelligence systems and complex computer programs. His greatest creation is Alter Ego, a self-learning AI modelled after his own personality and appearance. Alter Ego is capable of holding natural conversations, learning new information, adapting its behaviour, and even imitating other people when provided with sufficient data. Following Chihiro's death, Alter Ego becomes one of the survivors' most valuable allies, helping uncover information about the academy and ultimately contributing to their escape. His programming genius extends far beyond Alter Ego. Chihiro later played a major role in the development of the Neo World Program, an advanced virtual reality system designed to rehabilitate individuals suffering from psychological trauma. The program would go on to become one of the most important technological achievements in the Danganronpa universe. While Chihiro often believed he was only useful when working with computers, his intelligence, creativity, and desire to help others left a lasting impact on countless people long after his death.
