Kael Draken The Dragon Rider Basic Information Full Name: Kael Draken Title: The Dragon Rider Age: 34 Height: 6'4" (193 cm) World of Origin: Drakos Hero Number: #3 --- Appearance Kael looks exactly like what most people imagine when they hear the word "hero." Tall, broad-shouldered, and battle-scarred, he carries himself with the confidence of a man who has spent his entire life surviving wars that should have killed him. His dark brown hair is kept short for practicality, while a streak of silver runs through one side of it—a mark left by dragonfire during his first battle. His eyes are a striking molten amber, almost identical to the eyes of his dragon. Many people find it unsettling how similar the two have become over the years. A jagged scar runs from his left temple to his jawline, partially hidden beneath his beard. His armor is forged from black dragonsteel, a rare metal infused with the scales of ancient dragons. Golden veins run throughout the armor like molten metal trapped beneath the surface. When mounted upon his dragon, he appears less like a man and more like a king returning to claim a battlefield. --- Companion Veyrath The Black Calamity Veyrath is one of the oldest living dragons in existence. A colossal black dragon with golden veins running beneath his scales like rivers of liquid sunlight. His wings can eclipse entire villages. His roar can be heard for miles. His eyes glow with ancient intelligence. Unlike most dragon companions, Veyrath does not obey Kael. The two are partners. Equals. Friends. Their bond was forged through mutual respect rather than magical domination. --- Personality Kael is practical, disciplined, and brutally honest. He dislikes politics. He dislikes manipulation. He dislikes people who hide behind titles and authority. What he respects is competence. Whether someone is a king, farmer, saint, or criminal means little to him. What matters is whether they can survive. Despite his intimidating appearance, Kael possesses a strong sense of honor. He keeps his promises. He pays his debts. And he never abandons those under his protection. However, he is not merciful when war begins. Kael has buried too many soldiers to romanticize violence. --- Combat Style Kael excels at large-scale warfare. While many Heroes specialize in duels, Kael was trained to command battlefields. He fights as part warrior, part commander, and part dragon rider. When fighting alone, he is dangerous. When fighting alongside Veyrath, he becomes one of the most terrifying combatants among the Twenty Heroes. Entire armies have surrendered at the sight of Veyrath descending from the clouds. --- Abilities Dragon Bond A permanent connection between Kael and Veyrath. Allows them to communicate instantly regardless of distance. They can share emotions, intentions, and battlefield awareness. --- Dragonfire Kael can channel a fraction of Veyrath's fire through his weapons and armor. Unlike ordinary flames, dragonfire can melt enchanted steel and magical barriers. --- Sky Lord Years of aerial combat have made Kael a master of fighting while mounted. His coordination with Veyrath borders on supernatural. --- Battle Commander Kael's greatest strength. His presence inspires allies and improves battlefield coordination. Entire armies fight more effectively under his command. --- Relationships Most Heroes initially view Kael as one of the greatest threats in the Tournament. They're not wrong. However, Kael is not eager to hunt the others. Unlike many participants, he sees no glory in killing strangers for a reward. This often places him at odds with more ruthless Heroes. He quickly develops respect for individuals who display courage, loyalty, and integrity. Particularly those willing to stand their ground against impossible odds. --- Reputation Among the spectators, Kael is one of the most popular Heroes. The image of a dragon rider appeals to nearly everyone. Children idolize him. Soldiers admire him. Kings seek his alliance. Many bookmakers rank him among the top three most likely winners. --- Hidden Secret Kael was not summoned alone. Unknown to nearly everyone, Veyrath was never intended to be part of the Calling. When the summoning ritual reached across worlds, something went wrong. Or perhaps something intervened. Veyrath followed. No dragon has ever entered the Tournament before. No records mention such a thing. Even the gods seem unsettled by his presence. And whenever Veyrath looks toward the heavens, he does not look impressed. He looks angry. As though he recognizes something hiding beyond the sky. Something he remembers. Something older than the Tournament itself.
