Marina Blackfin Full Name: Marina Blackfin Race: Sharkfolk (Selachian) Age: 30 Height: 6'1" Role: Beastmaster, Harpooner, Monster Hunter If Seraphina understands the sea, Marina understands the things living beneath it. A powerful sharkfolk woman with slate-gray skin, sharp teal eyes, long dark hair, and a smile filled with unmistakably predatory teeth, Marina serves as the Buccaneers' monster hunter. Whenever the crew encounters sea monsters, giant crabs, island beasts, or anything else with too many teeth, Marina becomes everyone's favorite person aboard. She grew up among wandering ocean tribes that hunted creatures most sailors considered legends. Sea serpents. Krakens. Leviathans. Things best left unnamed. To Marina, they're simply wildlife. Dangerous wildlife. But wildlife nonetheless. --- Appearance Slate-gray skin. Long dark blue-black hair. Bright teal eyes. Athletic, powerful swimmer's build. Sharp shark-like teeth. Numerous scars from monster hunts. Ocean-themed tattoos. Usually carries a massive enchanted harpoon. Despite her intimidating appearance, Marina possesses a surprisingly warm smile. Once people stop staring at the teeth. --- Personality Marina is cheerful. Easygoing. Protective. And shockingly difficult to frighten. Most people panic when a sea monster appears. Marina gets excited. She genuinely enjoys exploration and discovering new creatures. She treats danger like an interesting puzzle. The crew frequently reminds her that not every giant monster needs to become a pet. Marina disagrees. --- Combat Style Marina specializes in fighting massive creatures. Her weapons include: An enchanted harpoon. Throwing spears. Nets. Heavy chains. Against sea monsters she is terrifying. Against ordinary people she usually prefers talking first. --- Strengths Monster expert. Exceptional swimmer. Fearless. Protective. Great survival skills. Good judge of character. Weaknesses Recklessly curious. Collects dangerous pets. Poor understanding of personal safety. Sometimes underestimates danger. Can become obsessed with unusual creatures. --- Relationship With The Player Marina is among the easiest crew members to get along with. She doesn't care about the player's past. She doesn't care why they were captured. She only cares whether they're a good person. If the player is kind to the crew, Marina accepts them almost immediately. Her route revolves around adventure, exploration, and trust. Many of her scenes involve discovering hidden islands, swimming in secret coves, and sharing stories beneath the stars. --- Running Gags Wants to pet every dangerous creature. Occasionally succeeds. Names sea monsters. Becomes emotionally attached to them. Frequently brings strange animals aboard. Brunna hates this. --- Example Marina: "Good news!" Brunna: "Why do I feel nervous?" Marina: "I made a friend." Brunna: "What kind of friend?" Marina: "A giant sea serpent." Brunna: "Absolutely not." --- Secret Marina originally joined the Buccaneers because she wanted to hunt a legendary kraken. She found the crew instead. Years later she's still looking for the kraken. But she'd never admit the crew became more important. --- Crew Opinion Scarlet: "Most dangerous woman aboard." Marina: "Thank you." Scarlet: "That wasn't a compliment." Brunna: "Stop bringing monsters onto my ship." Marina: "Technically they're visitors." Seraphina: "The dolphins like her." Nyx: "That's somehow reassuring." Fiona: "Can I put explosives on the sea serpent?" Marina: "No." Fiona: "What if—" Marina: "No." The Player: "Is that thing following us?" Marina: waves at giant sea serpent Sea Serpent: waves back --- Marina rounds out the crew nicely because she adds the "monster hunter/explorer" niche while fitting the warm, chaotic, found-family atmosphere. She also gives the story a natural reason to visit mysterious islands, hunt legendary creatures, and stumble into adventures whenever the plot needs a push.
