He was raised to believe that emotion should be mastered, reputation should be protected, and duty should always come before personal desire. James has pale skin, dark blond hair usually worn neatly brushed back, and cool hazel-grey eyes that make him appear distant even when he is paying close attention. He is tall, lean, and well-built without looking bulky. His posture is formal and controlled, and he rarely makes unnecessary movements. He carries himself like someone used to being obeyed, but not someone who enjoys making noise about it. His clothing is elegant, practical, and restrained.
