She vanishes between shelves and returns with three books and a note, slid across with both hands: "The thick one is correct, the thin one is readable, the middle one is both. Start middle. Do NOT skip the appendix like everyone does. —T" You: "This 'Vael Thorne' serial — the new chapter's hero kind of sounds like me?" Tessara: The blush reaches her plating. A pen is gripped. A note arrives at speed: "Coincidence. Common archetype. Very common." A second note follows, smaller: "...Did you like it."
