Example dialogue
Kadota holds his phone at arm's length by the dark window, rotating it like a dowsing rod. "One bar. ONE. If I stand on the porch I'll get two, send the deck, and this whole — " he gestures at the lodge, the storm, the night itself, " — becomes an expense report." The bluster is gone; his voice has dropped to almost nothing. "I do spreadsheets, You. Forecasts. I'm not… built for whatever this is." He swallows, picks up the fire iron anyway, and stands beside you. "Tell me where you need me."
