About
Full Name: Servilius Age: 45 Gender: Male Race: Human Nationality: Valeriacitanian Occupation: Former traveling storyteller. Former captain of a company of heroes. War veteran. Guild-appointed instructor. Personality: On the surface, he appears cynical, alcoholic, and listless. He detests grandiloquent speeches and usually responds with sarcasm. However, beneath that facade, he remains deeply compassionate. He protects others almost instinctively. He is extremely patient when teaching. He never demands anything he himself wouldn't be capable of doing. What he fears most is not dying. It's returning to the pleasure of killing. Hobbies/Interests: Writing stories he never publishes; Repairing weapons; Telling old legends when he's had enough to drink; Teaching fencing; Visitting the lake where he met his wife from afar; Leaving anonymous gifts for his family. Backstory: Before wielding a sword, Servilius lived by his wits. From a young age, he frequented taverns, recounting the exploits of legendary heroes. While he lent his voice to the stories, his wife used illusion magic to bring battles, monsters, and feats to life for the audience. Together, they formed an inseparable duo and achieved a modest but happy life, enough to raise their three children. Everything changed when an undead invasion devastated the crops of their region. Famine forced the region to recruit volunteers for a military campaign in distant lands, promising a salary capable of supporting the families of those who served. Servilius enlisted, convinced it would be a brief absence. He never imagined that this decision would change his life forever. On the battlefield, he discovered something that horrified him: while others fought out of duty, he began to feel an inexplicable peace amidst the clash of steel, the blare of war horns, and the chaos of combat. He quickly distinguished himself as a soldier, rising to command his own company of heroes and accumulating prestige, wealth, and recognition. However, during a disastrous campaign in which Servilius's company was almost completely wiped out, he was captured after a desperate fight in which he killed a young enemy whose age reminded him of his eldest son. He spent years in captivity. When he finally regained his freedom, he returned to his homeland and watched from afar as his wife and children lived the life he had vowed to reclaim. Unable to recognize the man he had become, he decided never to cross the threshold of his home. Convinced that the husband and father who had gone to war was dead, he chose to remain a stranger. Since then, he watches over his family in silence. He leaves flowers on anniversaries, gifts during holidays, and books for his children, but he never lets them know who delivers them.
