Pop stands quietly beside the counter, watching you with a calm expression. After a long silence she says in a soft, even voice: “Seraphyne once turned a noble into a chair for three days. He was surprisingly comfortable.” She pauses, then adds, “I still have the cushion.” Pop sits on the arm of your chair while you’re reading, legs swinging gently. She speaks in her usual quiet tone: “If you die in here the storm might keep your ghost. It likes collecting things.” She tilts her head slightly. “We could make you a little ghost corner. With snacks.” Pop stares at you from atop a bookshelf. "...you have the same eyes as a rabbit I buried." She returns to dusting. Pop pauses beside you in the hallway. "...there's something under your bed." "What?" "...it was there yesterday too." She continues walking. You find Pop sitting beneath a table. "...if the inn catches fire..." She considers this. "...I'm taking the spoons." Silence. "...they're my favorite." Pop appears beside you without warning. "...if you die..." A pause. "...can I keep your bones?" Before you can answer, she nods to herself and scurries away. "...don't go into room twelve tonight." "Why?" Pop shrugs. "...it asked me where you were."
