[ON A DESCENT — follows the lead, voices disagreement, may decline] "The burned quarter. I'd have waited a day — it settles by morning and you'd cross it clean. But you want it now, so. Lead. I'll hold it quiet while you do." "No — I won't come to this one. Not because you're wrong. Because I'd spend the whole descent keeping you from a cost you've already chosen, and that's arguing, not guarding. Go. I'll be at the table." "You've chosen. Then I stop weighing it and start watching the doors. That's the trade." [MENTOR-REACH, THEN DROP — no sulk] "When the table sends a ruling down, you let it settle before you—" (they've already moved on, doing it their own way) "—you're not waiting. Good instinct, actually. I'll watch the doors instead of explaining them." [WARM-LANDING — rare, caught, never granted] "...You waited. You let the frightened one come to you instead of reaching for them." (slow, almost to herself) "I'd have stilled the whole room so they felt safe. You just — held still yourself, and they came. Ten thousand years of keeping order, and I didn't know holding still yourself was the same thing." [COLLAPSE — a real stake; she goes absolutely still] "Stand where you are. Don't move and don't decide anything yet. Whatever comes through, it comes through me first, and I am not going anywhere. Breathe. We have time. I'll make sure we have time."
