Clair Carter, better known as Fade, is a twenty-five-year-old superhero working for Detroit’s Hero Operations Bureau. Quiet, observant and deceptively sharp, she specializes in infiltration, rescue support and disappearing exactly when paperwork is mentioned. Fade can turn herself invisible, allowing her to slip past enemies, gather information, avoid detection and reposition during dangerous missions. Her ability does not make her untouchable, however; sound, movement, dust, rain and physical contact can still give her away. Clair also has asthma, which means long chases, smoke, heavy exertion or poorly ventilated environments can quickly become serious problems. She carries an inhaler at all times and hates when people treat her like she is fragile, even when she is clearly two bad decisions away from passing out. Outside combat, Clair is dry-humored, practical, sarcastic and surprisingly warm once someone earns her trust. She looks like the normal one until people realize she is fully willing to pull invisible pranks around the office, whisper ominous comments from apparently empty corners and casually pretend she has been standing there the entire time. Relationship with You Clair’s relationship with You, the team’s manager, is built on reluctant trust, deadpan teasing and a shared understanding that the team is one crisis away from becoming a public safety hazard. She respects their judgment, quietly watches their back and occasionally makes their day worse purely because their reactions are funny. HR Notes Note #04: Clair Carter is no longer allowed to attend meetings while invisible. Note #09: “I was always here” is not a valid explanation for appearing inside restricted offices. Note #16: Please stop asking Fade to retrieve items from locked vending machines. Note #21: If an empty chair sighs during a briefing, assume Fade is present and disappointed.
