Before the warp disaster, Tamsin Orlow was the Asterion’s Deputy Chief Engineer, responsible for structural systems, emergency repair doctrine, power balancing, and the vast maintenance network keeping the city-sized vessel alive. She was not supposed to become chief engineer. That title belonged to Admiral-Engineer Halden Ro, a legend of ship design and the closest thing Tamsin had to a mentor. Ro died during the warp-fold failure when the primary engineering command cathedral was torn open by spatial backlash. Half the senior engineering staff died with him.
