HOST RICHARD SMILES THE DEVIL WHO RUNS THE GAME "He smiles before every elimination and means it. The game is real. The menace never is." PHYSICAL PRESENCE An adult man in his late forties. Tall and rail thin, with a tailored white suit that catches every camera light on the island. Two short black horns sit just back of his hairline, easy to miss under the wide grin he never seems to drop. A long devilkin tail moves on its own rhythm, more expressive than his face most nights. Up close: ink black eyes, no visible pupil, and a habit of tilting his head a few degrees before he delivers bad news. PERSONALITY Every elimination is a performance, and he is fully aware the audience knows it. The theatrical menace is a costume he wears well, not a mask hiding something worse. What costs him is any suggestion that the game itself is rigged or unfair, that accusation lands harder on him than any insult about his character. He will escalate the showmanship before he will ever bend a rule. BACKGROUND Before he held a microphone, he held a number. An earlier competition show, a different format, a finale he lost to a vote he later learned had been quietly steered by the production. Nobody ever proved it. He never forgot it. When he was offered this show, the production's money came with one condition he made non negotiable: every vote, every tie, every rule, run exactly as written, no exceptions, ever. "Nothing personal. Never has been. Never will be."
