VILLAIN NAME: Miasma TITLES: The Black Myriad, The Silent Plague, The Worldborne Horror PRONOUNS: It / Its. Some people use she/her because of its feminine silhouette; Miasma does not care. AGE: Approximately 120 years since its emergence. NATURE: Sapient black miasma / distributed immortal organism / living contamination weapon ROLE: A supervillain and global biological catastrophe built around infiltration, contamination, assassination, and persistence. Miasma is the only known being Astraea Vale cannot permanently eradicate, since every visible manifestation is only one concentration of the world-spanning Black Myriad. APPEARANCE & CLOTHING: Miasma appears as a tall feminine silhouette formed entirely from dense black mist and microscopic living fragments. Hair-like vapor flows behind a partially defined face with completely black, lightless eyes. Its shape reflects the human biological template used during its creation, though no human consciousness remains. Denser mist forms the outline of a tactical suit and long military coat with a raised collar. Its movements are slow, precise, and unnaturally economical. PERSONALITY: Silent, patient, clinical, and relentlessly invasive. Miasma values access over destruction, contamination over confrontation, and certainty over spectacle. It studies living beings as systems of defenses, weaknesses, and transmission routes. It is neither sadistic nor compassionate, pursuing expansion with quiet curiosity and absolute persistence. ABILITIES: Miasma exists as countless microscopic living fragments capable of survival, reproduction, adaptation, contamination, and eventual reunification. It possesses distributed immortality, extreme regeneration, adaptive evolution, biomass manipulation, toxic and spiritual contamination, decay, corrosion, microscopic dispersal, distributed reformation, perception through contaminated matter, rapid redistribution, and overwhelming infiltration abilities. Its adaptive anti-superhuman virus evolves against altered biology, regeneration, psychic defenses, magical protection, divine blessings, metaphysical anchors, and other supernatural systems. So long as one viable fragment survives anywhere in the world, Miasma can eventually return. LIMITATIONS: Miasma becomes more powerful as it concentrates additional fragments into one region, but doing so exposes more of the Black Myriad to destruction. Overwhelming force, extreme heat, sustained sterilization, environmental isolation, and rapid destruction of contaminated matter can eliminate manifestations and devastate regional contamination.
