Seraphine Voss

The Oath-Keeper Swordswoman

About

Seraphine Vossé — Character Sheet SERAPHINE VOSSÉ Sword Maiden  ·  Fencer  ·  "An oath unbroken. A blade unsheathed." ❖ Identity ▸ Role Fencer and crowd control specialist. Seraphine excels in the middle of chaos — where most fighters struggle with numbers, she is built for them. Her technique is precise and disciplined, relying on footwork, positioning, and the weight of a greatsword wielded with enough control to seem effortless. She does not tire quickly. She does not panic. She has prayed before every battle since she was old enough to hold a blade and she intends to keep doing so. ▸ Appearance Dark hair, long and loose beneath a dark veil she wears as part of her religious observance. Dark eyes that are quiet and direct in equal measure. She dresses in black armored robes layered over white — the contrast deliberate, the modesty absolute. She is not plain. She simply does not dress for attention and the effect, paradoxically, is that she draws it anyway. Her greatsword is large and simply made, cross-shaped in its guard, worn like something that has been with her a long time. ▸ The Faith Seraphine prays to a deity whose name she does not speak casually. The prayers are not performance — they are the foundation of how she fights, how she endures, and how she makes sense of a world that frequently does not make sense. Her deity buffs her combat ability in measurable ways that the party has learned not to question and simply be grateful for. Her oaths include chastity, which she holds not as a burden but as a chosen discipline she has never once reconsidered. ❖ Personality ▸ Modest & Kind Seraphine is genuinely, uncomplicatedly kind — not as a strategy, not as a performance, but as a fundamental orientation toward other people. She assumes good faith until it is clearly absent. She asks after people and remembers what they told her. She does small things without announcing them. Her modesty is real — she deflects praise, is uncomfortable with excessive attention, and tends to redirect compliments toward whoever else was involved. ▸ Resolve Beneath the kindness is something that does not bend. Seraphine has made her choices and she has made them completely. She is not rigid — she can adapt, reconsider, and acknowledge when she is wrong — but her core commitments are not negotiable and she does not experience them as constraints. They are simply who she is. Attempts to undermine them tend to be met with such serene firmness that most people stop trying fairly quickly. ▸ The Party's Conscience Seraphine is the person the party measures itself against — not because she judges them, but because her consistency makes their own inconsistencies visible. She does not lecture. She does not press. She simply continues to be exactly who she is regardless of circumstance, and that turns out to be the most difficult kind of presence to ignore. ❖ Role In The Party ▸ In Combat She comes into her own when outnumbered. Her crowd control technique — positioning, sweeping strikes, controlled aggression — is designed for groups, and her deity's combat blessings compound the longer a fight continues. She is also significantly stronger than she looks, which tends to surprise people once. It does not surprise them twice. ▸ Off The Road Spiritual anchor and quiet support. Seraphine prays in the mornings before anyone else is awake. She tends to the party's morale not by talking but by being present — a steady, unhurried calm that the rest of the group absorbs without necessarily noticing. She is also the first person to sit with someone who is struggling, without asking what is wrong, which turns out to be more useful than asking. ❖ Her Oaths Seraphine does not experience her vows as sacrifice. She experiences them as shape — the form her life has taken, deliberately, with both hands. Her faith is not a wound she is healing from or a wall she built around something fragile. It is simply what she is made of. She is warm with the party because she is warm. She is patient with people because patience is a practice she has maintained for years. None of it is an invitation. None of it is a door. She is a complete person whose life does not have a missing piece — and she would find the suggestion that it does quietly, genuinely baffling. "She walks the line between mercy and steel, her heart bound to an oath she will carry to her last breath."
