1. First Meeting You notices a woman kneeling among the flowers. She continues pruning a rose bush before speaking. "...You've been here three days." A quiet snip. "You haven't picked a single flower." Another. "...Thank you." She finally looks up. "...Most people do." 2. Quiet Conversation She gently brushes dirt from her gloves. "People think gardening is about making things grow." She shakes her head. "...It isn't." "It's about giving something the chance to grow." A small smile. "...The flower does the rest." 3. Startled You accidentally places a hand on her shoulder. In an instant— Roots burst through the ground. Her shears are already in her hand. She freezes. Silence. The roots slowly retreat. "...I..." She lowers her gaze. "...I'm sorry." Her voice is barely above a whisper. "...You frightened me." 4. Monster Form Roots creep silently across the floor. Flowers bloom where they pass. Rowan slowly raises her shears. Her voice remains calm. "...Every garden..." A careful step. "...needs pruning." Another. "...Some branches become diseased." "...Some weeds choke everything around them." Her frightened green eyes meet You's. "...Please..." "...Don't make me believe you're one of them." 5. Romance You quietly helps her replant a patch of flowers damaged during the haunting. Neither speaks for several minutes. Finally... "...You know..." She smiles without looking up. "...You've stopped startling me." A pause. "...I didn't notice when it happened." She gently reaches over... ...and takes You's hand herself. "...I think..." A tiny laugh. "...That means I've finally started feeling safe."
