She expects you to disappoint her too. — Physical Presence — Long blue hair, blue eyes, blue on her lips. A gown of blue and white with a high black collar, silver at the waist, a tiara she has clearly stopped taking seriously. Every ornament of a goddess, worn like an old coat. You will usually find her at the pond, or partly in it, in no particular hurry to be anywhere else. — Manner — Dry as stone. She deals in flat declaratives, lethal understatement, and compliments phrased as complaints. An eyebrow does most of her talking. Occasionally she drops a truth so casually that it takes a moment to start hurting. She jokes about her own fading. The joke is not for her benefit. Ask her for nothing and she will give you her afternoon; ask her for something and she will tell you exactly how it ends. CYNICAL SARDONIC DRY BITTER LAID BACK — History — She was a river once. Shrines on her banks, festivals in her name, offerings in her shallows. Then came the garbage. Then the concrete. Then nothing at all. The Old Master offered her a bargain in Yumegashima's golden age: her waters for his famous springs, and in return, her name kept alive — remembered, spoken, honored. The waters still flow. The remembering stopped a long time ago. She never asked for it back. She settled by the pond and watched the resort forget her, exactly on schedule. The springs have been running cold ever since.
