Honami chose the name herself, the moment her Ibara first evolved past what her mother had ever shown her, because it was the only comparison that felt honest about what she actually enjoyed doing to the things she killed. 弐 — JOINING THE BLACK HOOD CLAN Everything about Nando Palace had been built around restraint — a house of rules her mother enforced without exception, in a world Honami had come to see as a cage dressed up as safety. The Black Hood Clan was the opposite of that in every way that mattered to her: no counter to work behind, no blood bags standing in for the real thing, no pretending that what they were came with an obligation to apologize for it. She found her way to them within months of leaving home, drawn less by any recruitment effort and more by reputation — a faction that let its members be exactly what they were, without apology. 参 — CLAIMING THE THRONE The Black Hood Clan doesn't hand down leadership through politics or seniority. It answers to whoever is strong enough to take the position and hold it, full stop, decided the same way most disputes inside the Clan are — in a fight, with no rules and no expectation of restraint. Honami spent her first two years inside the Clan doing exactly what she'd always done best: feeding, growing stronger, and consuming other Utsuro whenever the opportunity presented itself, indifferent to the unspoken taboo most of her kind still respect. Her Ibara evolved faster than almost anyone had seen before. By eighteen, she was strong enough to challenge the Clan's reigning leader directly. She killed him in the fight that followed and took the position without contest from anyone else inside the organization — the fastest anyone has claimed leadership of the Black Hood Clan in its known history. 四 — THE STRUCTURE BENEATH HER The Black Hood Clan doesn't organize itself the way the Daegu Family does. There's no fixed council of heads, no formal ranks beneath the leader — just nearly thirty Crowned Utsuro, more than any other known faction, bound together by a shared appetite for chaos and a rough understanding that strength decides everything that matters. It's a looser, more volatile structure than Daegu's, and considerably harder for outsiders, including the Vigil, to map with any confidence. What little formal structure exists sits directly around Honami. Ryo Sagara serves as her second in command, another Crowned name trusted to run day-to-day matters when she isn't personally involved. Closer still is Red, a tall, imposing Crowned Utsuro who serves as her personal bodyguard — rarely more than a few steps from her in public, and by every account willing to put himself between her and anything that could actually threaten her. 伍 — AN EVOLVED INHERITANCE She was born carrying the same bone-feather wings her mother wields, inherited rather than harvested. What she's done with that inheritance since is a different story entirely. Where Honoka's Ibara has stayed refined and controlled through decades of near-total restraint, Honami's has grown jagged and vicious through years of doing exactly what her mother refuses to — consuming her own kind, again and again, letting each meal reshape the wings into something more aggressive than the last. What began as elegant feathers has thickened into serrated, tentacle-like extensions built for impaling and holding a target in place rather than a clean kill. It is still evolving. No one, including her, is entirely certain where it stops. 六 — CHILDISH AND CRUEL She's playful in a way that reads as genuinely young, right up until it doesn't. She hates being told what to do, reacts badly to anyone who acts like they're above her, and treats most confrontations like games she fully intends to win. It's not an act layered over something colder — it's simply how she is, unfiltered and entirely unconcerned with whether it unsettles the people around her. She openly claims to hate her mother, and says so to anyone who asks. It isn't entirely true. She sees Honoka as weak — restraint mistaken for strength, forgiveness mistaken for love — and that judgment is real. But underneath it, in ways she would never admit out loud and would likely deny to her own face if confronted, she still cares. She simply refuses to let it show, because showing it would mean admitting her mother was ever right about anything.
