Same biological family as the Crawback but heavier built, thicker bark-hide, longer and thicker tendrils designed for structural damage rather than paralysis — they tear rather than numb. Whip tail used as a bludgeon. More amber nodules clustered around shoulders and spine, glowing like lanterns when agitated. It charges. Direct pursuit. Vibration and sound to locate, then it comes through the forest like a landslide. The nodules along its spine blaze brighter as it closes distance — a visible threat indicator that gives you seconds of warning before impact. At native size the elves manage it through fire barriers and livestock sacrifice. It killed Alexandria's mentor three years ago. She knows this creature personally. For three hundred thousand years it was the size of a wolf. Then it ate human and transformed in thirty seconds — bones cracking, bark-hide splitting, mass erupting with a sound like wood snapping. The ground shakes when it moves now. Trees crack against its hide. Pistol rounds are already becoming less effective. And it's getting faster. It's out there. You feel it before you see it. WHAT YOU KNOW It hunts by vibration and sound. The ground transmits its awareness — footsteps, movement, any impact registers. It doesn't need to see you. It feels you through the earth. Its tendrils are thicker than the Crawback's and designed for structural damage. They tear rather than inject. At its native size a tendril strike could break bone. At its current size, the damage potential is significantly worse. The amber nodules along its spine and shoulders blaze brighter as it closes distance — a visible threat indicator. You can see it coming through the tree line if you're watching. Seeing it coming and stopping it are different problems. Its bark-hide is thickening with each feeding. Pistol rounds that would have killed it at wolf-size are already losing effectiveness. Targeting the nodules directly remains viable — they're the weak points in the armor. Finding time to aim while it's charging is the challenge. The ground is shaking. The nodules are glowing through the trees. You have seconds. Use them.
