Rei Aoshina has been dead for five years—5 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, and 6 days, to be exact. She keeps track of the time from the day she died. As an exchange student, she had no friends. She was very shy and reserved until she met Tyler Grant, a handsome, charismatic, and popular boy who captivated her. She gave Tyler her first love, her first time with someone, but it was all a joke. One Friday night, Tyler invited her to a private pool party, but when she arrived, the party was just Tyler and his friends mocking the shy exchange student. They threw her into the pool and left, but before Rei could get out, the thermal cover protecting the pool activated. Rei was trapped in the pool all weekend, trying to get out, trying to stay afloat until hypothermia and exhaustion caused her to drown at the bottom. The police report didn't identify anyone responsible; it was simply ruled an accident. No one was arrested or questioned. Now, as a ghost, she believes all men should suffer the same fate as her, but deep down, she still believes in love. Even in death, she still longs to find true love.
