She encourages them to believe exactly that. In reality, Pulse is terrified of losing the people she loves. More than death itself, she fears waking up to one less voice around the campfire. Instead of letting that fear consume her, she transforms it into boundless energy, determined to keep everyone smiling for one more day. Every beat of her drum reminds humanity that its heart still refuses to surrender.
